the process

Taking Young seedlings to mature medicine producing adults.

Light can be natural (outdoor growing) or artificial (indoor growing). Growth Medium Optimal PH level is between 5.8 & 6.5 of the soil.
Air Estimated at 30-35°C, optimal day temperature range is 24° - 30°C. 31°C and below 15.5°C seem to decrease THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)
potency and slows growth. Watering frequency and amount is determined by temperature and light, the age, size and stage or growth of the
plant and the mediums ability to retain water.

germinate

seedlings

12hrs - 8days

Light and water will activate a series of hormones within the seed and kickstart the growth process. A root grows spliting the outer shell, downward, into the soil. A green stalk will shoot upward and two initial cotyledon leaves will appear. The Cannabis plants are called cotyledons and belong to the dicotyledonous group of plants.

seedling

Seedling
phase

1-4 weeks

During the seedling stage, two embryonic leaves will open outward from the stem to receive needed sunlight to break free of its seed casing. These embryonic leaves will look nothing like mature Cannabis leaves. The next pair of leaves to grow from the baby plant will be the first to have the classic rounded points.

vegatative

vegatative
phase

2-26 weeks

The stem grows thicker and taller, new nodes develop. These nodes produce more leaves and new branches. The vegetative plant will need long hours of summer sunlight (12hrs outdoor/18hrs indoor) per day. The tree will halt its upward growth once it receives less natural light in autumn period or when indoor light is reduced from 18-12hrs per day.

flowering

flowering
phase

3-12 weeks

A 12/12hr light cycle will start the plant showing its first flowers, appearing at the nodes. Creamy white pistils develop from the flowering points. New flowers continue to develop. Flowers thicken. Flowers will close and the calyxes will swell. Leaves will yellow as energy is put into making flowers. Flowering peaks with pistils swelling and finally changing in color from white to amber, to a reddish brown at the end.

BENEFITS OF CANNABIS

Cannabis, one of the oldest domesticated crops known, is used in a other areas, from clothing, to food, to fuel, to a whole host of consumer and building products, not to mention helping in cleaning up soil pollution.

It has been used for paper, textiles and cordage for thousands of years. In fact, the Colombia history of the world states that the oldest relic of human industry is a scrap of hemp fabric dating back to approximately 8000 BC. There are many varieties of Cannabis, Industrial Hemp(non-psychoactive), varient of Cannabis sativa L has been cultivated throughout history for fiber, oil and food, and for its medicinal and intoxicating properties. Breeding has produced specific plants, including high-potency strains and hemp cultivars for fiber and seed production. The molecular biology underlying cannabinoid biosynthesis and other traits of interest is largely unexplored.

Hemp and Cannabis come from the same species but are genetically distinct and further different by use, chemical makeup and cultivation. Hemp is an attractive rotation crop for farmers, it breathes in CO2, detoxifies the soil and prevents soil erosion. What’s left after harvest breaks down into the soil, providing valuable nutrients. Hemp requires much less water and no pesticides making it more environmentally friendly than traditional crops.

Cannabis is said to be used to treat a wide range of illnesses and is currently being studied as a control for mental illness and addiction. Compounds derived from Cannabis can kill cancerous cells in patients with leukemia. CBD, a non-psychoactive chemical compound found in Cannabis, can stop metastasis in some kinds of aggressive cancer.

seed oil

HEMP
seed oil

Extracted from the seeds of the Cannabis plant and has been used for hundreds of years, comes from the tall growing varieties of Cannabis, however it does not contain THC, the primary psychoactive compound in Marijuana found in the flowering tops of the female plants before the seed matures.

Hemp seeds are thoroughly cleaned and washed before pressing, thereby removing any traces of THC on the seeds that may have been left behind. You will not get “high” from ingesting hemp seed oil.

protein powder

HEMP protein powder

Hemp protein powder is made from hemp seeds which provide a solid nutritional boost similar to flaxseeds. It packs a health punch of dietary fiber, chlorophyll, minerals and antioxidants without any saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium or sugar.

It increases overall protein intake and boosts metabolism and increases fat burning potential.

It improves heart health with an ideal 3:1 balance of Omega3 and Omega 6 fatty acids, which promotes cardiovascular health. It contains linolenic acid, an Omega3 fatty acid that some studies suggest helps prevent coronary heart disease.

It decreases Osteoporosis risk as it is high in omega6 fatty acids (GLA). It cleanses the colon. It is a soluble and insoluble fiber. Both forms of fiber naturally cleanse the colon, reducing constipation and toxins in the body. It reduces sugar cravings.

The high nutrient content of hemp protein powder makes it a perfect ally in the fight against the craving for unhealthy sweets.

seed

de-hulled hemp

Hemp produces abundant seed which for millennia has been used as a valuable food source. Bulk hemp seed is an important food in some parts of the world. As a crop, hemp seed is helping to revitalize economically troubled conventional tobacco and wheat farms in Canada.

Two countries producing most of the world’s dehulled hemp seed are Canada and Germany. A non-heating mechanical process dehulls the tough outer shell of the seed. This dehulled hemp seed (also called hemp meat and in precise botanical terminology, is an achene, which is actually a type of fruit) has virtually unlimited uses. Dehulled hemp seed is a richly nutritional and easily digestible living food.

Its nutritional profile is especially strong in essential fatty acids and protein. The nutritional components of hemp seed offer natural antioxidants at the cellular level. They therefore help improve circulation, tissue repair, muscle recovery, and help in the proper functioning of cell membranes.

Research

South Africa’s National Cannabis Working Group presented a position paper to the South African Central Drug Authority highlighting positive effects of cannabis for conditions including Alzheimer’s, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, diabetes mellitus, dystonia, fibromyalgia, incontinence, gastrointestinal disorders and various cancers. Research has increased substantially over the past decade, particularly in North America and Europe, but hardly at all in Sub Saharan Africa. This is also true for South Africa, despite good conditions for growing high quality Cannabis outdoors.

In 2016, SA’s Medicinal Research Council released a policy brief on Cannabinoids for medical use, in which was appraised a systematic review evaluating the medicinal use of cannabis.

The review was commissioned by the Swiss federal office of public health, it focused on randomized controlled studies evaluating cannabinoids for the management of 10 conditions including nausea and vomiting because of chemotherapy.
